[INTERVIEW/TRANS] T.O.P for Cosmo China

We used the last minute of our time to casually ask T.O.P a few questions which caught him off guard, but we really wanted to ask him. His answers are sure to make fans fall in love with him.

Cosmo: What do you want to say to your 30 year old self?
T.O.P: Nothing.

Cosmo: Which ‘first time’ do you constantly think about up until present day?
T.O.P: My first love, of course. (shy)

Cosmo: Will you forget the other four members once you have a wife?
T.O.P: It’s already like that without a wife.

Cosmo: What do you want to say most to plump girls?
T.O.P: I like plump girls.

Cosmo: What do you like more about yourself? Your face, body or voice?
T.O.P: Inner self! I’m kind-hearted.

Cosmo: There’s no such choice!
T.O.P: But can I still choose that!

Cosmo: How would you rate your own dancing?
T.O.P: No comment.

Cosmo: How long does it take before you miss your dongsaeng members if you don’t see them?
T.O.P: This sort of feeling is very random and very sudden since they’re all not my wives. But, I will miss them if I go eat good food or go to a fun place. I will think about how good it would be if we could enjoy it together.

Cosmo: What do you find most important to keep a stable and long lasting brotherhood (between your members)?
T.O.P: This doesn’t need to be deliberate because it won’t happen if we put a lot of effort into it. I believe it’s fate; a sort of connection. To think that the five of us were able to meet and be together, it’s just an amazing feeling.

Cosmo: What do you find is the most appealing aspect of being friends with someone?
T.O.P: I’ll observe the other person in the beginning. Not saying to stare at them, but to look at them when they’re hard at work and to see whether I can catch something different about them that could arouse my curiosity. It could be their advantages or their weaknesses. There could be something special about their weakness. I would be more initiated (to approach them) to cure my curiosity as long as there’s something that attracts me.

Cosmo: Are you a straightforward person when it comes to expressing yourself in a relationship?
T.O.P; No, I don’t really know how to express myself and I don’t have a specific way to do it either. I have different methods of expressing myself in different timing and different scenarios.

Cosmo: Do you make it very obvious what you like or dislike?
T.O.P: When I was young, yes. I didn’t like a lot of things when I was younger, but there’s significantly less of that feeling nowadays. But as to what I hate, I’m still very clear and it’s hard for me to tolerate it.

Cosmo: So do your friends grow in numbers following this mature mentality?
T.O.P: I’m able to understand people more now compared to before, but I don’t have a lot of friends and don’t wish to make a lot of friends. I’m still friends with the people I grew up with, but I tend to keep a distance with people I meet through work.

Cosmo: Being your friend is kind of hard?
T.O.P: Because I’m not good at communicating with strangers, let alone play together. 

Cosmo: Because shooting movies, singing, dancing and composing, what else do you want to challenge yourself with?
T.O.P: Nothing. My challenges are mostly aimed at singing or movies. I don’t want to be greedy and do other things. I only want to work hard at everything I’m currently doing and won’t look for other things to do.

Cosmo: What do you still have difficulty with?
T.O.P: The most difficult thing is myself. I don’t understand what type of person I am. I don’t know what I want or what I’m thinking. However, I don’t have that feeling of being lost towards my work anymore.

Cosmo: Are you the type of person to have a plan?
T.O.P: I don’t think so.Not only do I not plan but I don’t really know how to figure things out. I’m not very rational at judging things. I’m more the type to be impromptu and be a bit emotional.

Cosmo: It’s BIGBANG’s 10th anniversary this year. What kind of wish will you make?
T.O.P: I wish that all the members will be healthy and happy. This sounds simple, but this is the most basic yet hardest wish to fulfill. I hope that everything can still be healthy and happy even after a long time. We’ve been very close since we were young so I don’t wish for other things.

Cosmo: BIGBANG is 10 years old. Do you remember what you were like when you were 10 years old?
T.O.P I remember I was very curious back then. There were a lot of things I wanted to know about.

Cosmo: Have your birthday wishes come true?
T.O.P: We don’t usually wish for anything on birthdays. Aren’t we supposed to give blessings?

Cosmo: What do you want to be blessed with on your birthday then?
T.O.P: First, I can still reply the questions up there. Fortunately, God as given me all that I’ve wished for in my life.

Cosmo: So what do you want us to bless you with?
T.O.P: To be happy.

Cosmo: What’s your definition of happiness?
T.O.P: It’s what everything thinks it is - “to be happy”. 

Cosmo: As a famous Internet celebrity, how many do you look at your phone per day?
T.O.P: It’s random, there’s no specific time.

Cosmo: How long do you spend on taking selfies?
T.O.P: I don’t really take selfies.

Cosmo: No, we always see you posting selfies on the Internet?
T.O.P: I only took those occasionally before I started on my jobs so I could check on myself. I never really took selfies until I started playing on Instagram.

Cosmo: Ghost, Choi-3-layers, Choi-Internet-Celebrity - which nickname do you like the most?
T.O.P: I don’t like any of them. (He changed his answer when he saw how shocked we were.) Alright, alright! I like them all.

Cosmo: It doesn’t feel like you’re telling the truth?
T.O.P: I really do like them all. Good, good. (He said in Chinese.)

Cosmo: We know you have a big interest in art. We created a graffiti setup especially for you. Are you satisfied?
T.O.P: Very satisfied. I can feel that you guys put in a lot of work.

Cosmo: We often see you post some home design products on your Instagram. What do you think about the most when you see products that attract you?
T.O.P: Inspiration. The kind of inspiration that allows you to express new things because you are here to bring fresh and beautiful things to people. So I think you have to go and experience these ‘fresh’ and ‘new’ things firsthand.

Cosmo: Will you collect art?
T.O.P: Yes, I also like going to art exhibitions.

Cosmo: Will we be able to meet the artist, Choi Seunghyun in the future?
T.O.P: NO, because being a singer and an actor is a form of art too. They’re different from this. I don’t think I will be the sort of artist that you’re thinking of.

Cosmo: There are some comments that say you are cool on the outside but full of childish thoughts? Will you refute that?
T.O.P: I won’t refute because I agree with it. People often think I’m cool because of how I look, but in fact, I’m not. It’s exactly like what the comments say.

Cosmo: The 5 of you are generally together on stage, but do you feel lonely now that you work solo now?
T.O.P: Of course I feel lonely. When the 5 of us are together, we get quite lonely too so being alone now makes me feel even more lonely!

Cosmo: How would it be lonely having 5 people there?
T.O.P: Every person’s life is lonely.
